The aim of moonlight is to navigate a course from a secret start location to the finish whilst avoiding catchers and returning with as many lives as possible.
There were 150 teams made up of 4-7 scouts/explorers. We were bussed from Maghull Town Hall to Tarleton Academy. Once we arrived at Tarleton Academy we registered , got our arm bands and were sent to make sure we had all the correct kit. After all teams had registered we were bussed from Tarleton Academy to Bispham Scout Estate. Once off the bus we began the 14 mile walk back to Tarleton Academy which began at 12:30pm and finished it at 8:30pm.
After we had been walking for 1 hour and a half, we were discussing how we hadn't seen a catcher yet. As we said those words one of us seen a orange arm band (This signifies a catcher) and we all shouted "ORANGE RUN !". We all began running up hill away from the catcher, one of us hid behind a bin and the catcher ran straight past him. Even though we ran as fast as we could the catcher was faster than us and sadly caught us.
Later on, we had stopped just after we came off of a canal. When 6 guys all jumped out of a car (that definitely shouldn't of fit 6 people in) and caught us this was our 4th life lost which was good considering it was 6pm at this point.
At 8:30pm we FINALLY arrived back at Tarleton Academy and RAN into the funnel. We then lined up until, the firework went off. We then gave our life card in (this kept track of our lives lost) and the judges tallied up our catches and told us we came in 6th out of 150 teams !!
It was a long hard day but it was an amazing day making memories with our explorers
