As a volunteer run charity organisation we try to keep our running costs as low as possible and to ensure scouting is open to everyone. With that in mind we charge a monthly subscription of £15 that covers our fees we pay to Scouting UK for all the leader training, safeguarding and insurance to enable us to deliver the adventurous programme we offer.
Activities vary by section but can include camping, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, community service, first aid, arts and crafts, and skill-building workshops. We also enjoy field trips to local fire stations, visits from our community police officers and day trips to activity events.
Trained adult volunteers lead Scouting activities. All leaders undergo background checks and receive training in safeguarding and safety.
Yes, Scouting is open to all young people regardless of background, ability, or faith. It promotes diversity and inclusion. Since 1976 Scouting has warmly welcomed both boys and girls into the movement.
Speak to any of our volunteer leaders, parents can volunteer in various roles, from assisting with activities to administrative support. Involvement is encouraged and always gratefully received.
Each section has its own uniform, which typically includes a shirt, neckerchief, and badges. Shirts and uniforms can usually be purchased from Scouting suppliers online, the group neckerchief and badges will be awarded once your child completes their basic induction and training in scouting.
Safety is a top priority. Activities are risk assessed, and leaders are trained in first aid and safeguarding. Policies are in place to protect all members.
